We know that to be a serious model car collector, it can be an expensive hobby to pursue. Some models can cost hundreds of dollars and it is not something that everyone can afford.

However, this does not mean that you cannot be a collector just because you cannot afford to be one. It all depends on how you choose to define the term 'collector'. As for me, I like to refer to anyone who collects something with PASSION.

Yes, the word is PASSION. Anyone can be a model car collector whether he or she possesses an in-depth knowledge of the collectors' world.

Think of a theme and define a purpose for your collection. A meaningful theme will help to focus your collection effort within a time frame you set for yourself and defining a purpose will make your collection process a fun and educational one.

For instance, I have defined a purpose and a few themes below which your may like to consider having for you own:

Now having define a theme, you can focus your collection effort in sourcing for affordable model cars under any of the above categories. And throughout the collection process, you could try to acquaint yourself with some historical knowledge about these cars and find out why they are still the world's renowned cars in history and today.
